It began centuries ago and arrived where we are, gathering wisdom from the ones before us and adding new technologies, new discovery and methods of use of natural ingredients
I grew up in Brazil, where using natural home remedies is a way of life. In my family, it was simply how we lived. When I moved to Washington State, I brought that love for nature with me and started growing my own garden. Alongside vegetables, I planted herbs and flowers, including calendula, starting from seed. Knowing calendula’s incredible benefits for the skin, I wanted to use it to help my daughter, who has sensitive skin and often deals with irritation.
One year, after an abundant harvest of calendula flowers, I decided to make infused oil to help with her skin dryness. Around the same time, a neighbor who used to keep bees gifted me a bag of beeswax. Inspired by this act of kindness and my cultural roots, I combined the beeswax with the calendula oil, adding lavender and chamomile from my garden.
The result was a balm my daughter absolutely loved. It worked wonders for her skin, and she shared it with her friends. Seeing how much they appreciated it, I made a batch of lip balms as gifts for my nieces, who also have sensitive skin. They raved about the smooth texture, saying it felt far better than commercial lip balms. Soon, friends and family were excited to receive these handmade creations, and I found joy in making them.
Then came an opportunity to work with hemp. At first, I hesitated because my knowledge of the plant was limited to its recreational use. However, after creating my first batch of CBD balm and sharing it with a retired athlete friend, everything changed. They raved about how much it eased their aches and discomfort. That moment sparked my desire to share these products with more people.
What began as a labor of love for my family has grown into a mission to provide natural, effective care for anyone seeking gentler, earth-inspired solutions. At OneBody Botanicals, I am proud to continue this journey, crafting each product with the same care and intention that started it all.
Today, I call Washington State home, where I live with my husband and children. Surrounded by lush natural beauty, I grow herbs and flowers organically, honoring the wisdom of the earth and the traditions that inspire my work.
